WHAT IS INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE?

dancingSometimes referred to as the “new” medicine, integrative medicine combines conventional, western medicine with time-tested complementary practices from around the world, such as acupuncture, nutrition, meditation and mindfulness, and massage to name a few. With science-based research supporting it, integrative medicine encourages a partnership between patient and physician, explores new modalities that are proven and safe, taps into the body’s natural healing ability, and empowers individuals to take an active role in his or her own healing and wellness.

WHAT CAN INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE DO FOR YOU?

hulaIntegrative medicine can change your life and renew your health and vitality. At any stage of your life and while facing any health challenge, integrative medicine is a personalized, pro-active approach to finding your own wellness practice. It can enhance your inner resilience, tap into your body’s natural healing ability, and help you find peace in body, mind, and spirit. Our physicians, services, programs, workshops, and classes offer a wide variety of new and effective ways to enhance your personal wellness journey.

WHAT DOES INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE MEAN TO US?

babiesWe’re proud to be a part of the five Osher Centers for Integrative Medicine, along with the University of California, San Francisco, Harvard Medical School (Brigham and Women’s Hospital), Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.  All five institutions are committed to fostering programs that focus on research, education, and clinical care in integrative medicine. We hope to take a leadership role in this new revolution in medicine, help train the future integrative medicine physicians, and bring a new level of awareness and opportunity to the public.
